SIRT-NL has confirmed the identity of the man killed in a police shooting earlier this month.
They name 38-year-old Omar Mohammed as the the man involved in the incident, which played out on June 12 at Regatta Plaza.
The organization says they have exhausted efforts to notify the man’s next of kin, but were unable to do so. They have confirmed Mohammed’s identity with his roommate, and say they have also reached out to other members of the Sudanese community.
SIRT-NL Director Michael King says as the investigation into the matter is still in the fact-finding stage, they will not be releasing further details at this time. They are still unsure on what the outcome of the investigation will be.
Anyone with information regarding Mohammed and his family connections is asked to contact SIRT-NL.
