49-year-old John Byrne and 41-year-old Crystal Chislett briefly appeared in Harbour Grace provincial court this morning.
They’re due back in court on Tuesday to work out a potential plan for bail.
Both face charges of manufacturing firearms, possession for the purpose of trafficking, unsafe storage of firearms, having a gun loaded and accessible, and possessing guns obtained by crime.
Byrne is also charged with flight from police and unauthorized possession of firearms.
Police say additional charges are expected.
The investigation began in late May after border security intercepted a package of firearm parts destined for Harbour Grace.
Then early this week police raided a home in the town and seized long guns and handguns, some of them made with a 3D printer which was also confiscated, as well as ammunition and a security uniform complete with body armour.
