The Canadian Women’s Foundation is investing over $1 million in Social Purpose Organizations led by and for diverse women and gender-diverse individuals.
The funding aims to support entrepreneurs facing barriers to financing their social impact businesses, particularly those operated by Black, Indigenous, and racialized women, newcomer women, and 2SLGBTQIA+ people.
Sagal Dualeh, Director, Investment Readiness at the Canadian Women’s Foundation says they hope the funding will help address the significant challenges women-owned businesses face in accessing capital and aims to promote positive social impact in various communities.
Alongside financial support, Dualeh says the Canadian Women’s Foundation will provide training, coaching, peer support, and resources to help these organizations succeed.
In this province, Dualeh says Quadrangle in St. John’s received funding.
She says it’s Newfoundland and Labradors first provincial community centre led by and serving 2SLGBTQIA+ people; the visionary leaders there created a community space for the provinces queer community to connect.)
