St. John’s Pride launched two weeks of activity in the metro region yesterday by raising the Pride flag at City Hall.
The committee overseeing the events, including the parade, did not have a lot of time to plan the event but chair Eddy St. Coeur says it all came together nicely with a lot of help from the community and other groups.
One thing they learned was that people want more lead time on the date of Pride Week and the parade. They’re hoping to have the dates for next year’s events nailed next month.
Events kick off tomorrow with a Queer Market at the Farmer’s Market.
There’s a pool party for women later Sunday afternoon, there are clothing swaps, a BIPOC (black, Indigenous and people of colour) panel at the university, games night, trivia night, and much more, says St. Coeur.
