St. John’s native Alex Newhook has signed a four-year contract with the Montreal Canadiens. Newhook was acquired in a trade with Colorado, giving up two draft picks for the Stanley Cup winner.
The deal carries an annual cap hit of $2.9 million.
The centreman, selected 16th overall in the 2019 NHL draft, has played two NHL seasons, garnering 66 points.
Newy says he can’t wait to play at the Bell Centre, this time for the home team. He will be wearing number 15.
