The Port of Argentia has received its first shipment of those massive offshore wind turbine foundations.
Earlier this year it was announced that the port was being established as a transit route and laydown yard for the equipment—the first of its kind in North America.
On Friday evening, the Boskalis heavy transport vessel Target arrived with the first shipment of the foundations, which are known as monopiles.
The port says the milestone comes after 10 months of intensive preparations.
