As universities swing their doors open for a new academic year, a significant challenge looms for many students—finding suitable accommodation to continue their studies. But that’s not an issue just with the St. John’s campus—it’s also tough finding housing for students at the Grenfell campus.
The NDP calls it a housing crisis from one end of the province to the other.
Mary Feltham, Chairperson of the Canadian Federation of Students, says the situation is probably toughest on international students. She says they sometimes end up in the province for quite some time before they find suitable lodging. Some never do.
She has heard of situations where international students end up having to go back instead of staying in NL and getting an education.
