The Marystown area has lost a true pillar of the community.
Annie Mary Brennan died on Thursday, just two weeks shy of her 93rd birthday.
Referred to as the Queen of her clan and the Mother Teresa of Marystown, Brennan cared for her 13 children but also anyone who needed help, with her home often considered a haven for the most vulnerable.
She also spent years volunteering at her church, Sacred Heart Parish, as well as many other organizations such as the Red Cross and Canadian Cancer Society.
In a social media post, son Mike Brennan said his mother left this world “in the same manner in which she lived her life, quietly and without fuss,” adding “she was our heartbeat — the glue that held us.”
Meanwhile, the Town of Marystown lowered its flags out of respect, noting in an online post that the community “is mourning the loss of a wonderful lady who touched the hearts of everyone.”
The wake is scheduled for Sunday and Monday at Wiseman’s Funeral Home in Marystown, with the funeral mass 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Church.
Donations in her memory can be made to the Sacred Heart Parish Church Fund.
