A woman whose impact on the town of Marystown has been likened to that of Mother Teresa was laid to rest today.
Annie Brennan, described as an angel who walked the Earth, passed away last Thursday at the age of 92.
Mayor Brian Keating says hundreds turned out to pay their respects to Brennan, whose loss will be sorely felt.
He says Brennan was involved with “many, many” organizations over the years, and her door was always open to friends and strangers alike.
Brennan’s impact on the town was so profound that the family received special permission to allow her family to carry her casket over the Canning Bridge to Sacred Heart RC Church for her funeral this morning.
The Canning Bridge was closed to traffic last winter due to safety concerns about the aging structure.
