The Arts and Culture Centre is St. John’s is getting a new name in honour of a man who was instrumental to the arts community.
The facility will be renamed the John C. Perlin Arts and Culture Centre.
According to government, Perlin was instrumental in establishing the province’s network of Arts and Culture Centres during his time in the public service.

As well, he had a “long and illustrious” life of philanthropy, as well as providing service to the monarchy.
Government says the dedication will ensure that Perlin’s contributions to the province, and the history of Arts and Culture Centres, is remembered for years to come.
Perlin’s cousin, Debbie Powers, says he would have been honoured to see the dedication.

She says Perlin loved his work with the Arts and Culture Centres and the family are grateful for gesture.
A tender will soon be issued for new signage, with a dedication ceremony taking place next year.
