A single mother from Ukraine is struggling in her efforts to settle in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Margarita Ponomarenko, who has a background in classical guitar and music education, is facing difficulties finding suitable housing, getting English lessons and providing for her children on minimum wage.

Ponomarenko explains that she is in a financially vulnerable position, struggling to provide for her children while holding down a job making minimum wage.

Speaking through a translator, she says while her family feels safe, she did not expect to be in such a vulnerable financial position.
