The Town of Pouch Cove has a new firefighter training centre.
The Jack Connors Training Centre was officially opened in the town last week.
Pouch Cove Volunteer Fire Department Chief Derek Sullivan says the centre has been on his agenda for the better part of a decade, noting that it is needed for the area as they provide mutual aid with the towns of Portugal Cove and Torbay.
Sullivan states that crews will receive realistic training for how to deal with a structure fire.
He says the structure is three storeys tall and contains furniture to make it realistic for crews. As an example, he explains that crews can practice venting a roof.
