Music NL has announced the nominees for their 2023 awards.

Leading the pack this year is Nico Paulo with seven nominations, followed by Mallory Johnson and Jason Benoit with six nods each.

Elsewhere, the We Stand On Guard Again Hurricane Fiona relief concert, which VOCM helped broadcast, has been nominated for event of the year, and VOCM’s own Greg Smith has once again been nominated for Media Person of the Year.

CEO Rhonda Tulk-Lane says they were “overwhelmed” with the amount of nominations this year.

She says this year they had about 500 applications submitted by 184 members, which she calls amazing.

New this year is an award category celebrating francophone artists.

Tulk-Lane says it has been a long time coming, and they are excited to have the new award.

The awards will be given out during Music Celebration Week in October.
