A St. John’s woman says she’s lucky to be alive after striking a moose on the Robert E. Howlett last night.

Nikia Howlett posted her dash cam footage to Facebook to show just how quickly a moose can appear in front of your vehicle.

Howlett says she is a bit bruised up, but her SUV was heavily damaged. She says she was driving under the posted speed limit at the time and she wants people to know a crash like that can happen in the blink of an eye.

She says it’s her second accident involving a moose, and both times her vehicle was written off.
