The NL Teachers’ Union has received assurances that no impacts will be felt as the English School District transitions into the Department of Education.
Union President Trent Langdon says maintaining good communication was among their key concerns when plans to absorb the school board into the department were first announced.
The union’s greatest concern was that any changes to the system that would impact the daily operations of a school should not be considered. Langdon says he’s happy to give credit where credit is due and they’re being kept “up-to-speed” on the transition.
Langdon says from his understanding most of the changes involve middle and upper management who are shifting office spaces.
Any savings that come from the changes, says Langdon, should remain in education, and that’s something they’ve already been guaranteed.
