A 78-year-old man is facing a number of charges after a car left the road near Reef’s Harbour on the Great Northern Peninsula in the wee hours of Thursday morning.
Port Saunders RCMP arrived on the scene and found the driver inside a car which was in the ditch.
Police say he showed signed of impairment. The man, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle, refused to provide breath samples, and allegedly resisted arrest and assaulted one of the police officers.
The accused has been released to appear in court at a later date to answer to charges related to the incident.
