As the Blue Jays continue their push towards the post-season, interest in baseball continues to grow in this province.
The owner of Premier Sports Academy, Ryan Sweeney, wants to cultivate the next wave of baseball stars from Newfoundland and Labrador.
Sweeney’s promising athletic career was derailed by a torn ACL so he changed gears and founded Premier Sports Academy in February of 2020. Since then, Premier’s crop of young talent has grown, including standouts Jaida Lee, Hudson White, Kody Butt, Nick Smith, Rylan Anderews and Eli Dunphy.
He says there has always been good baseball players from this province, but consistency will help them achieve their goals in the sport.
Premier Sports Academy’s development program is open now, with tiers aimed at all levels of interest.
