A film made in this province danced across the silver screen at one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world.
“The King Tide”, directed by Christian Sparkes and produced by Allison White, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last night. Both Sparkes and White are from the island.
The film tells the story of a young girl with special gifts who is adopted in an isolated East Coast island town and the ensuing effect on the family and the community.
The movie was shot in the late summer and fall of 2022 in Keels in Bonavista Bay. Around 100 people from this province were employed during the film’s production.
The King Tide will hit theatres later this year.
The tide is high at #TIFF23. 🌊
