The 2023 Atlantic International Film Festival is in the books, and a crop of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians walked away with awards and acknowledgements.

Among them was writer/director Christian Sparkes, who was named Best Atlantic Director and Best Atlantic Screenwriter for his work on Sweetland, as well as receiving the Gordon Parsons Award for Best Atlantic Feature for The King Tide.

Elsewhere, Susan Kent received the David Renton Award for Outstanding Performance for her work in Who’s Yer Father?, and Justin Oakey took home Best Atlantic Editor for The King Tide.
