Nominations are now open for the annual Newfoundland and Labrador Human Rights Award.
The award recognizes someone who has made or is continuing to make a “meaningful contribution to advancing and furthering human rights” in the province.
Hilary Hennessey, a public relations specialist with the province’s Human Rights commission, shared that the award is fantastic acknowledgement to those unsung heroes in our communities.
She says it helps to recognize the work being done in the community that may not be immediately recognized by the general public.
Last year’s award winners were Todd and Kim Churchill, who were recognized for their advocacy for deaf and hard of hearing students.
Nominations for the 2023 recipient close on October 2. You can submit a nomination form online at www.thinkhumanrights.ca.
