Health Minister Tom Osborne has indicated that government plans to recruit health care workers in Saskatchewan, but the NDP is calling the move proof that government’s retention efforts are failing.
NL is embroiled in an apparent tit-for-tat in health care recruitment efforts, sending a team to Saskatchewan in direct response to the prairie province’s poaching efforts in Newfoundland and Labrador.
NDP Leader Jim Dinn is calling on the province to focus its resources on retention and listen to what health care workers currently in the provincial system are saying.
He recommends addressing deficits in the system rather than “engaging in wasteful and unnecessary chest thumping exercises.”
