Seven prominent Newfoundlanders and Labradorians have received the province’s highest civilian honour.
The latest recipients of the Order of Newfoundland and Labrador were honoured at a ceremony earlier today.
This year’s recipients were broadcaster and volunteer David A. Elms, activist and artist Noreen Golfman, surgeon Dr. Kevin Noel Melvin, comedian and political commentator Rick Mercer, Dr. Pat Parfrey, painter Jean Claude Roy, and fungi researcher and author Andrus Voitk.
The recipients were presented with their medals today, raising the number of Order members to 142.
