The RNC say there is no evidence to confirm reports of a weapons offence in the area of the Waterford Hospital in St. John’s.
Officers are continuing to investigate in the Waterford Bridge Road, Topsail Road area.
A number of schools are in lockdown or secure mode based on police advice. They include Waterford Valley High, Cowan Heights Elementary, St. Matthews Elementary, Beaconsfield Junior High, Hazelwood Elementary and St. Mary’s Elementary.
The Waterford Hospital is also on lockdown, and officials with NL Health Services call it an evolving situation.
