Premier Andrew Furey will deliver the first of six apologies to residential school survivors in Labrador today.
The premier will be in Labrador over the next three days, delivering two apologies daily.
Five of the apologies will be delivered in Inuit communities, including Rigolet, Postville, Makkovik, Hopedale, and Nain, while the sixth will be delivered in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.

Indigenous Affairs Minister Lisa Dempster, who will not be in attendance due to what she says are commitments in the House of Assembly, says the apologies are “of tremendous importance” and a significant moment in the province’s history.
“It’s really their [the survivors] apology,” says Dempster. She calls the conditions that survivors encountered a sad chapter in the province’s history, and hopes more healing can continue as a result of the apology.
The apologies are scheduled for:

Postville, Recreation Centre, 3:00 p.m.
