It’s going to be a windy night in some parts of the island with big waves.
Environment Canada has a special weather statement out regarding higher-than-normal water levels from White Bay to Cape St. Francis on the northern tip of the Avalon Peninsula. The waves will be 6-9 metres high according to meteorologist Rodney Barney.
The timeline is tonight within a couple of hours of either side of high tide.
Winds overnight on the Avalon Peninsula will gust to 90 km/h from the northwest.
Similar events in the past have caused damage to coastal infrastructure.
