Atlantic Canada’s first ever Seafood Industry Innovation Summit is set to take place in St. John’s this week.
Beginning today and running until Friday, the Seafood Industry Innovation Summit, which is hosted by Fisheries and Marine Institute’s Centre for Aquaculture and Seafood Development, and the Canadian Centre for Fisheries Innovation, aims to promote the development of a sustainable, modern and globally competitive fish and seafood industry in Atlantic Canada.
Canadian Centre for Fisheries Innovation Managing Director, Keith Hutchings, says that the summit, and by extension the centre, will work with the industry to enhance and improve max supply chain opportunities and address demand on sustainability and quality.
The summit will identify industry needs and the development or adoption of available tech in areas of food processing automation, market-ready seafoods, increased return on resources harvested and the use of AI to address challenges in the industry.
