Today is National Philanthropy Day, a day to recognize contribution of philanthropy in ways to better communities.

This morning, the Newfoundland and Labrador Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. AFP-NL, hosted their annual awards honouring philanthropic achievements in the province.

The President of AFP-NL, Christina Morgan, says celebrating Philanthropy Day is a small way to say thanks to those who give back to the many organizations in the province. While the struggles of the pandemic remain, Morgan says the province is still stepping up in time of need.

Among the winners today were VOCM’s Greg Smith, who was the recipient of the Outstanding Philanthropist Individual Award.

The “We Stand on Guard Again” Hurricane Fiona Benefit Concert received Outstanding Special Event and Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro received the Corporate Outstanding Philanthropist award.
