Daffodil Place in St. John’s recently achieved a milestone, having received their 100,000th guest since the facility opened.
The “Give Today, Give a Night” Radiothon supports the One Night Stand Against Cancer campaign, which raises money for Daffodil Place, which is a home-away-from-home for cancer patients and their families.
It costs the Canadian Cancer Society about $120 per night to provide a guest with affordable comfort and care. And it’s not just a place to rest your head—they provide meals, transportation to and from appointments, and many other services.
Sarah Neil, a manager at the facility, says many of their guests tell them that if not for Daffodil Place, they would not have a place to stay.
When you call to donate, some patients or family members of them may be on the other end of the line.
The cost to patients is $50 per night. To donate and help ease the financial burden, you can go online at support.cancer.ca or call 1-844-229-0146.
The campaign to raise money goes strong until 7:00 Friday morning.
