It’s a new era for the Avalon Mall VOCM Happy Tree.
The annual holiday toy drive campaign kicked off at the Avalon Mall this morning, but you’ll notice Happy is looking a bit different this year.
The iconic, talking tree decided it was time to retire and pass the tradition on to a brand new tree and a talking elf named Avy.
Though the original Happy is no longer, the demand for community support remains as a number of charitable organizations are reporting a record-demand as we approach the holiday season.

All toys and gift card donations will be distributed by the Salvation Army to kids and teens in need throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.
Happy and Avy the Elf are collecting donations of unwrapped gifts and gift cards at the Lululemon court of the Avalon Mall. Monetary donations can also be made online.
