Two men are facing serious charges following an unusual incident in a wooded area in the Whitbourne detachment area.
RCMP were called over the weekend following an assault on Friday.
The victim, who thought he was joining two people on a moose hunting trip, claimed that he had been lured into a wooded area where he was threatened and assaulted.
Police say a firearm was used in the incident.
Thirty-year-old Steven Burton of Chapel Arm and 27-year-old Justin Leonard of Placentia were arrested on the weekend. A home in Placentia was searched and two firearms seized.
Each of the accused is facing charges including assault with a weapon, uttering threats, and a number of firearms related charges.
Both accused appeared in court on Monday and were remanded to custody. Their next scheduled appearance is this Thursday. The investigation continues and further charges are possible.
