Deck the Halls, the annual VOCM Dial-a-Carol hits the airwaves this afternoon.
The radiothon marks the beginning of the holiday season for many but also embodies the spirit of giving by raising funds for local charities and initiatives through the VOCM Cares Foundation.
Listeners can call into the program to pledge their support and in return request their favourite holiday song or Christmas carol.
Sonya Smith, Executive Director of the VOCM Cares Foundation, says that this year’s Dial-a-Carol will support various VOCM Cares programs, including the Avalon Mall-VOCM Happy Tree.
She says that the VOCM Cares Foundation fundraises and supports charities in the province year-round, including disaster relief, seniors’ programs, school food programs, and other organizations such as the Down Syndrome Society and Boys and Girls Clubs – efforts that are made possible thanks to events like Dial-a-Carol.
Smith says people can donate online or over the phone. She says feel free to call in and request a song for someone special in your life, whether that’s a loved one, family member, friend or yourself.
Dial-a-Carol is taking place today from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Your VOCM.
