RNC officers remain on the scene of a weapons offence at a home on Brazil Street in downtown St. John’s.
Police first received reports of shots fired early Sunday morning and soon cordoned the area off for public safety.
Tammy Davis, who lives near the property of interest, told VOCM News that she woke to noises early in the morning, but didn’t think anything of it until she saw the large police presence.
When she got up, she saw some RNC officers positioned with long guns outside her window. Once she made her presence known to an officer, police told Davis she had to leave her home while they attended to the incident.
Davis says their neighbourhood is relatively quiet and this type of activity is unusual.
Due to situation, police requested that the annual Downtown St. John’s Christmas Parade be rescheduled. The parade will go ahead on Sunday, December 3 at noon.
