Some heavy weather is coming our way with wind and storm surge warnings for many areas, including the southwest coast.
Environment Canada meteorologist David Neil says strong southeasterly winds will spread across the island tomorrow with peak wind gusts over most areas of 100 km/h and even higher on the west coast. He says gusts as high at 100 to 130 km/h are expected in the Wreckhouse area.
Storm surge is also something officials are watching closely on the southwest coast from Port aux Basques to Grey River. Peak storm surge will come during high tide tomorrow morning with a possibility of coastal flooding in low lying areas.
Maximum wave heights are expected in the 4-6 metre range, and even higher during high tide.
