It’s taking longer than they had hoped, but Metrobus and a shelter on the edge of downtown St. John’s for people who need help to meet basic needs are continuing discussions on re-establishing a bus shelter in the area.
A car crashed into the structure, which was located on Military Road, last winter. It has yet to be replaced despite the intention of the players to do so.

Paul Davis
Paul Davis, Executive Director of The Gathering Place, says another shelter in the area on the other side of the street was removed a while ago by Metrobus after complaints from the public.
Unintended usage of the shelters—such as an accommodation facility—sometimes results in complaints from the public.
The facility has 2,000 registered guests and many of the people travel by bus, however, Davis says there is no facility for them to seek shelter from the elements as they wait for transportation.
