Construction is set to start on a new community health care centre in the Stephenville/Bay St. George region.

NL Health Services has awarded a $2 million dollar a year contract to GDR Enterprises Ltd. to lease space for 20 years at the new facility. It will be located at the corner of Connecticut Drive and Minnesota Avenue near the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital.

It will house the new family care team for the region, as well as mental health and addictions services, the FACT team that treats individuals with serious mental illness, programs for those with physical and intellectual disabilities, development services and Public Health.

Construction is set to begin in late 2024.
