St. John’s International Airport has reopened after being closed for about an hour this morning.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary took control of the situation at about 6 a.m. due to the presence of a suspicious package. Their specialized unit determined that there is no threat to public safety.
UPDATE – The RNC have determined there to be no threat to public safety connected to the report of a suspicious package.

All flights were grounded for a time, and nobody was allowed into the area.
The airport is now open for operations. Those who are travelling today are asked to check with their airline for flight information.
