The English School District is warning parents about flavoured nicotine pouches being used on school property.
In a memo sent home to parents yesterday, the NLESD says they have become aware of some students using the pouches on school property.
They say that the products are relatively new, and as of now, use by young people is not restricted.
The district says the pouches can be bought at corner stores under the brand name of Zonnic, and are being sold by Imperial Tobacco.
NLESD says they and community partners such as the Alliance for the Control of Tobacco have serious concerns about the potentially dangerous consequences for both staff and students.
They say the pouches fall under their Cannabis and Smoke Free Policy, and as such they are not permitted on school grounds and anyone caught using the product will be dealt with by school administration accordingly.
