An event that played out in the depths off the shores of this province is Google’s second most searched news story of the year.
The search engine has released its Year in Search 2023, which tracks the most googled topics, people and media over the past year.
The OceanGate Titan submarine disaster, played out in June near the wreck of the Titanic, off the shores of Newfoundland and Labrador. The event saw journalists from around the world travel to the province and a spotlight put on the island as the search for the missing submersible evolved.
The war in Gaza and Israel was the single most searched topic, while the Turkey Earthquake was third.
