The education minister says a recent report indicating a decline in academic performance in this province shows that there is work to do in standardized testing.
The study, done by the Programme for International Student Assessment, shows a decline in test scores in many places across the world, including Canada. Newfoundland and Labrador ranked at the bottom for the country.
Minister Krista Lynn Howell says education in Newfoundland and Labrador is about to be transformed.
She says the province has to do things differently. She says they need to transform how we educate students so they go anywhere in the world and have confidence in their education.
