A spike in respiratory viruses is placing added strain on the health care system on parts of the mainland and officials are anticipating a similar situation in NL.
NAPE President Jerry Earle says the health care system is strained at the best of times and he tips his hat to the many people who work to keep things going and take care of others.
He says most people expect to get time with family and friends over the holiday but for those in health care it’s work time.
He says they’re starting to hear more about increases in respiratory illnesses. He says it comes after a stressful three years for health care workers.
