A home at the corner of Calver Avenue and Malta Street has been gutted by a fire late this afternoon.
The blaze first broke out shortly after 4 p.m.
Firefighters were met with smoke and flame when they first arrived on the scene.
The blaze has now been reduced to a smolder. There’s no word on any potential injuries.
First responders and Newfoundland Power crews remain on the scene at this hour.
The section of Calver Avenue and Malta street is closed to traffic.
