Some road realignments and traffic control systems are on the bill for St. John’s this summer as part of its capital works budget.
It will begin the process to install traffic lights at O’Leary Avenue and Pippy Place. Design work on that aspect is planned for this summer, but the installation will not yet happen.
However, Councillor Ron Ellsworth, the lead on finance, says the larger project will be reconfiguring the tangly mess at Goldstone, Kelsey, and the access points on and off the Team Gushue Highway.
“We’re looking at putting in a couple of roundabouts so the on ramps and off ramps would tie in to the roundabouts,” says Ellsworth. “Goldstone is one of our high collision areas.”
