Marine Atlantic says they’re feeling the impact of climate change as cancelled crossings become more and more common.
The gulf ferries were tied up this past weekend due to high winds and storm surge on the southwest coast.
Marine Atlantic spokesman Darrell Mercer says there has been an increase in the frequency of weather-related cancellations of late.

He says people who are familiar with the weather in the region will admit that climate change is becoming increasingly evident.
Mercer says longtime crew members are noticing that storm systems are more frequent and powerful than they used to be. He says they’re trying their best to adapt, but ultimately the issue lies with Mother Nature.
