A local company is hoping to fill a niche left vacant in the province for years.
The provincial government recently amended legislation paving the way for ride sharing services.
That’s where Kabby, the first ride share service established in the province, steps in. Co-owner Frank Nei says being established in St. John’s should give them an advantage.
“We’re from here, so we understand the local market very well.” He says not only are they offering traditional ride-share services, but they’re also looking at other ways to serve the local market that are specific to the area.
He says they’re focused on affordability and fairness.
They want to make sure that passengers get an affordable rate, while the drivers get “a much better payment rate compared to say a big company like Uber.”
The Kabby app is now live, but they’re hoping to launch their new service in late February or early March once they have drivers secured.
