Special weather statements are out for both Newfoundland and Labrador as another system moves into the area tonight and through to Thursday.
Environment Canada meteorologist David Neil says snow will begin this evening starting in the south and moving northward to the Northern Peninsula by tomorrow morning. By Wednesday, that snow will switch through freezing rain to rain, and will be accompanied by strong winds.
He says the entire island will see some snowfall before it turns to rain for many areas tomorrow.
In Labrador, the story will be snow and blizzard conditions.
There will be accumulations of 10 to 15 cm in most areas, but as much as 30 cm in the Upper Lake Melville region and along the coast. The snowfall will linger in Labrador through to Friday.
There will be a break in precipitation on the island before strong winds on the back end of the storm pick up later in the week with gusts to 100 km/h or more in many areas.
