On his last day serving as Administrative Chief of the Miawpukek First Nation, Mise’l Joe is reflecting on the strides made during his 35 year tenure.
He says there’s still a long road ahead towards reconciliation and furthering Indigenous rights, but believes they’ve made great progress over the years.
He believes they’ve made strong advancements with both levels of government and the people of the province.
Mise’l Joe says he’s left with a number of moments to be proud of.
One of the biggest accomplishments he says, is the educational advancements they’ve managed to make. Students from their school have gone on to work in rewarding careers. “Those are the new warriors going forward in our world.”
