Porter Airlines is expanding service in Newfoundland with daily flights between Deer Lake and Halifax as well as between St. John’s and Ottawa come June. It currently operates a flight from St. John’s to Toronto.
Porter President Kevin Jackson says the expansion will mean they will be flying coast to coast in Canada—St. John’s to Victoria.
Their announcement came last week just as the Hospitality NL Conference in St. John’s heard from many fronts that greater air access to our province is critical.
Jackson calls St. John’s a very popular destination and he hopes that they can continue with the added flights year-round.
He says summer is a popular time to fly and they will be monitoring customer response throughout the summer and fall to see if they can continue with the service through the winter months.
