CUPE says they’re seeing the impact of food insecurity on the frontlines in their work.
President Sherry Hillier says they’re hearing the struggles from members working with vulnerable populations, such as those working at the Gathering Place. Not only that, she says some of their members are likely impacted too, given the high costs of the living.
Food banks are often struggling this time of year with donations falling off after the holiday season. Hillier says they’re proud to sponsor VOCM’s Pack the Pub food drive in support of the Community Food Sharing Association.
She says they’ve been spreading the word to their members and encouraging them to donate what they can.
Your VOCM, in partnership with the Newfoundland Growlers and Newfoundland Embassy, will be live on location at the Embassy from 1 to 4 p.m.
Donations of non-perishable food items will include a prize pack entry. Monetary donations can also be made on the VOCM Cares website.
