This year’s crab fishery is beginning to look a little like last year’s.
Harvesters say they cannot fish for the price on the table from processors, $2.60 per pound.
Protest organizer John Efford says the FFAW has asked DFO to delay the start of the crab fishery because of the dispute. Last year, the boats remained tied up into the summer.
Efford says they shouldn’t be in this situation but that the ASP forced them into it. He says they will not be taking to the water next week.
