The St. John’s Board of Trade has issued a heartfelt thanks to the Newfoundland Growlers, emphasizing the team’s impact far beyond the ice rink.
The group is just one of the growing list of organizations sharing their appreciation for the hockey club since its suddenly folded on Tuesday after the ECHL rejected a proposed bid to save the franchise.
According to the Board, the Growlers’ significance lies not only in their wins, but in the cherished memories they’ve created for families, the inspiration they’ve provided to children, and their contributions to the community through school visits, hospital visits, and charitable donations.
The Board also highlighted the economic benefits brought by the team, including jobs at the Growlers Hockey Club and for local businesses, especially in downtown St. John’s, thanks to the influx of fans on game nights.
